Tribunj Is a well-known fishing town, located about three kilometers northwest of Vodice.  According to available records, the name of the village comes from the words Trebunj or Trebic, used by the Heathen Croats for the Autumn sun god. The village was renamed after Venetian fortresses and castles that stood on the tiny peninsula. Their name influenced in the present name of Tribunj.

Before you rent a boat in Tribunj and sail around some of the cleanest waters on the Adriatic coastline, you can take a stroll to visit several attractions and sights. The Church of St. Nikolas and the old cemetery are the most recognizable parts of the village. Here, you will also have a stunning panoramic view of the Kornati archipelago, a sailing paradise. Most of the town is crossed with dry stone walls and is rich in olive trees and grapevines. You can also taste different fish delicacies near the port, such as the tasty mussel dish prepared buzara-style and served with Mediterranean flavors.

Moving up towards the 18th century, Tribunj becomes the vacation destination of the upper classes. Still, Tribunj is perfectly positioned to allow you to enjoy a relaxing boat trip away from the crowds. Being a stone’s throw away from Sibenik, you can easily hire a boat in Tribunj and explore countless beaches, bays, and coves of the surrounding areas.

Right across Tribunj, you can start sailing between the Kornati Park’s 89 islands, islets, and reefs. This is a breathtaking sailing ground that is ideally spent on a catamaran or sailboat, thanks to their stability and fuel efficiency. For a day cruise, you should definitely explore the surrounding area of Tribunj and make stops at the tiny islands of Zlarin or Prvic. These islands have no cars or hordes of tourists. In these places where time has seemingly stopped, you will have a truly memorable summer. 

Tribunj has two local beaches. The longest one is Bristak, located east of Nikola pier. You can also find Zamalin beach, which has wild and picturesque inlets stretching west from the beach that leads to Sovlje beach. Here, you will find a sheltered lagoon with a beautiful view of the Sovljak islet. Thanks to the shallow sloping shores and safe winds, you may spend an overnight stay in complete comfort with your family and children.
