Boats in Vis

Vis is a remote island shaped like an arrowhead with some of the best beaches in all of Croatia. Besides its closeness to the open sea and its breathtaking bays and coves, Vis is known since ancient times for its important role in nautical trading and amazing wines. The local white wine made from Vugava grapes and the red wine made from Plac grapes is still run by generations of the same families. Around the 4th century BC, Dionysus, the ruler of the Greek town of Syracuse named the island Issa after colonizing it, and around the 10th century, it became part of the Venetian Republic. Vis came under the rule of Napoleon in 1805, followed by British control 5 years later, when they constructed an important nautical trading port in central Dalmatia. Arriving at Vis, you will come across the main town of the island on the northeast side, also the most inhabited part, where numerous cafés and bars line up the waterfront. Once you have walked through the town and sampled the traditional Croatian specialties, you can head to the harbor, where all the sailing boats and yachts are nestled together. A boat tour in Vis will allow you to enjoy a calm adventure and is convenient for those who look for peace and isolation.

With your boat rental in Vis, you can visit Komiza, Bisevo, and many other islands that are blessed with splendid beaches. Near Komiza town, many pebble beaches dot the coast, including Nova Posta, Velo Zalo, and Gusarica. Komiza looks to the open sea at the two small islands known as Svetac and Bisevo. Bisevo is surrounded by high cliffs and is most famous for the Blue Cave and Monk Seal Cave you explore by boat. Once you head out of Vis town you will also find the nice sandy beaches of Prja, Rogacic, and Vela Scitnja. One of the most beautiful bays to set the anchor is Stoncica Bay, also called the ‘Hawaii’ of Vis. Stoncica has a great mooring spot for catamarans and sailboats and has an excellent restaurant nearby. Zaglav is a peaceful cove found 10 km from Vis town and is often visited by yachts, it is near Milna village which has another sandy beach with shallow waters under the same name. Some other beaches and bays you can set an anchor to with a motor yacht include Budihovac, Mala Travna, and Srberna in Rukavac. All of these areas are also popular destinations for swimming and snorkeling activities. You can also visit the more distant islands including Susac, Palagruza, Jabuka, and Lastovo for a longer adventure.

By renting a speedboat, you can explore unique caves that are known in all of Croatia as top-day or even half-day adventures. The Blue Cave of Bisevo reflects sun rays from the sea bottom and creates impressive effects that awe visitors who go through the entrance. The best time to visit the Blue Cave is from 10 am to 2 pm. You would be pleased to know that there are always excursions boats available on our platform that offer this exciting trip. On the small island of Ravnik, you can also visit the Green Cave, which is also impressive thanks to its unique geomorphologic shape. In fact, these caves are popular attractions that top chartering grounds such as Split, Trogir, and Hvar offer day cruises to them with a speedboat, RIB, or motorboat. From here, you can enjoy a two-day cruise to Vis and Komiza. Stiniva Bay is perfect for a swimming break and lies below dramatic karst cliffs, it is a well-hidden gem of Vis island you cannot miss!

Finally, your Vis tours can last as long as a week with a sailboat charter.
