Rab is one of the greenest islands in the Adriatic, situated in the Kvarner Bay archipelago. Rab is separated from the mainland by the Velebit channel and is an attractive sailing area thanks to the numerous islands and favorable winds. Legend says that the island of Rab was protected from the gods, who placed it under the shelter of Mt.Kamenjak; where the lee of the Velebit range protects it from the Bura winds. Besides being a paradise for sea lovers, Rab has a rich history and cultural heritage. Roman city walls, Gothic and Renaissance palaces, and old streets create a special beauty since ancient times. Starting from the 3rd century BC, Rab belonged to the Roman Empire, where the emperor Octavian Augustus granted it independence. It was passed under the rule of Byzantium in the Middle Ages, and later the city became governed by Croatian rulers. The town of Rab is currently decorated by four bell towers. Visitors passing the well-preserved town walls will come across delightful plazas where musical stars gather during the nights of the Rab Summer Festival. You can also walk along Komrcar Park, where you will see a splendid collection of plant life through green labyrinths. This is one of the best attractions to see before your boat trip to Rab. Once you have strolled through the town of Rab that rests serenely on an oddly-shaped peninsula, it is time for you to rent a boat and navigate the islands around.

You can rent a boat from Rab Island and explore the neighboring islands of Lopar. Heading towards the small islands of Lopar you will have excellent opportunities for swimming and snorkeling. In this case, we recommend hiring a catamaran. Lopar is well known as ‘Sandy Paradise” and is surrounded by the islets of Goli Otok, Grgur, Prvic, Lukovac, and Skoljic, where you may anchor your yacht. The island of Prvic is the largest uninhabited island in Croatia and is a major nesting area for birds.

The island of Grgur has a small but safe harbor and is often visited by domesticated deer. You may also find the beautiful beaches and bays of Mala Luka and Vela Luka near Baska village. The entire village of Baska is filled with larger and smaller beautiful beaches below the steep slopes of hills. Another great option is Paradise Beach on the Island of Rab. This beach is known for its shallow waters and is ideal for small children.

If you want to extend your island tours in Rab, you may visit Kampor and Banjol, two villages that are perfect for recreation. You can enjoy cruising the stunning beaches of Mel and Suha Punta in Kampor for example or moor your boat on the sandy beaches of Padova in Banjol. If you have limited time, you can rent a motor yacht or speedboat and visit all the islands around Rab for the perfect day trip.

A yacht charter in Rab can also be combined with Pag island. You can visit the island of Cres or continue further on from Pag to the Kornati islands for a week cruise. You will discover karst-limestone formations, sea creatures, and stunning islands while sailing the majestic Kornati Park with a sailboat. From the Kornati, you can dock in the known ports of Zadar or Biograd. If you choose to visit Cres, you will also be able to stop by Krk nearby and have the perfect trip around Kvarner Gulf.
