Hiring a yacht is the ideal way to explore the hidden beauties of Fethiye. Fethiye is a charming coastal town southwest of Turkey and one of the main starting points for a yacht charter trip. The main gulf of Fethiye consists of twelve islands, many of which are filled with bays that can only be accessed by boat. There is an abundant set of marinas where you can find the ideal yacht of your choice. You can directly contact the owners for the ideal vessel or simply allow a BednBlue travel expert to guide you with some suggestions.

You have plenty of options:

You can book and hire a yacht with a skipper--or without one, if you own a license--and enjoy a one-day cruise to Oludeniz. You can also rent a motor yacht. Their fast cruising speed will allow you to visit further-reaching destinations, such as Kas or Marmaris on a two-day or three-day trip. Finally, you can charter a luxury motor yacht or a gullet for as many days as you wish and combine your sailing experience with the Dodecanese islands of Greece.

Yacht in Fethiye

Fethiye has a coastline stretching towards the Aegean Sea, leaning towards a Mediterranean climate, hot and dry in summer with winds reaching up to 27 knots at most. Above the harbor of Fethiye there is a hillside that resembles a fortress. Just an hour’s walk away, you can visit ancient rock tombs that were used in Lycian times, dating back to almost 2.500 years ago. One can also visit the open-air museum of Kayakoy, near Fethiye, abandoned by the Greeks in the earlier days. Göcek is a charming town in Fethiye with a fine selection of international restaurants. It is also packed with all the necessary provisions for all kinds of yachts. From Gocek, or the main harbor of Fethiye, you can be one of the few to admire the multi-million-dollar yachts that set sail in the captivating waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

A private yacht charter in Fethiye will allow you to discover secret islands for as many days as you please. For those looking for a fun-filled day of adventure, Oludeniz makes a great day trip. With a high-speed catamaran or motorboat, you can reach the blue lagoon of Oludeniz in approximately half an hour. The lagoon features a rare natural landscape, with turquoise waters that are perfect for snorkeling. Oludeniz is becoming more popular to tourists who want to absorb the wonder of the whole environment. Above the picturesque lagoon is the Babadag Mountain, reaching heights well over 1.800m and setting an idyllic backdrop. There are also several restaurants in case you want to enjoy an overnight stay by the harbor below. Before you enjoy scuba diving and paragliding in Oludeniz, you can make a stop at Gemiler Island, a deserted region also thought to be the home of St. Nicholas, the Patron Saint of Sailors.

For a longer yacht charter holiday in Fethiye, you can continue to Kas and Demre along the southern coastline. Kas is a small fishing village with a capacious marina. It makes a great stop to taste the beautiful seafood, and provides an opportunity to restock on fuel and supplies before you continue your cruise. Kaleucagiz is 36km east of Kas. You will notice a lot of luxury yachts anchor here for shelter before they arrive in the sunken city of Kekova. Near Kekova is Gokkaya, a cluster of small islands with clean waters that dot along the intended coast. Asirli island, Kiseli island, and Kasirli island are some examples of Lycian rock tombs one can explore in between. You also have the option to hire a yacht with a skipper and go for an excursion to Kastellorizo or Rhodes.

By hiring a gulet or luxury motor yacht, you can have an alternative sailing route and head to the peninsula of Bodrum and the Southern Dodecanese islands of Greece. The highlights are plentiful. You can even stop by the city of Knidos, which has an old commercial harbor at the tip of Datca peninsula, between Bodrum and Marmaris.

A bareboat yacht charter in Fethiye is also an option for more advanced sailors. The Yassica Islands, Cleopatra, Aga Bay, as well as Domuz island are some stops you can make to spend the night. Cleopatra Bay was named after the Queen of Egypt who was known to swim in the wonderful bay. Continue sailing towards Marmaris Harbor, and you will come across Dalyan, known worldwide for its mud baths. You will also be able to catch sight of Caretta-Caretta turtles in Iztuzu Beach. You could also spend your time in the busy market of Marmaris before you arrive at the Roman and Ottoman Shipyard island and the multiple bays of Gocek. Of course, your itinerary can be crafted to your liking. You can even head to Lesvos, Samos, and Kos opposite Bodrum for a multi-day adventure in the Aegean Sea.
