The endless Ionian and the Aegean Sea offer visitors unique and private moments of relaxation. Greece is set apart from most European countries thanks to its rich cultural and historical heritage. From ancient to modern times, we can see civilization, science, and religion takes a new shape and form, evident from the historical monuments that develop from Crete to Thrace through time.

The Cyclades islands are the most famous holiday destination in Greece. These are 39 islands, of which 24 are inhabitable. From the windmills and the white-domed churches in every town to the endless beaches that surround them, a magical atmosphere is created. Mykonos, Santorini, Naxos, and Paros are a few of the most popular islands in the Cyclades. The Dodecanese islands are located at the northeastern tip of the Aegean Sea. Kalymnos, Rhodes, Kos, Symi, and Karpathos are among the most famous islands of this complex. The Ionian Islands, or otherwise known as the Heptanese complex, are known worldwide for their calm and turquoise waters. Some of these islands include Lefkada, Corfu, Zakynthos, and Ithaca. Finally, the islands of the Saronic Gulf are among the most favorite destinations with very easy access from the mainland. They are near the port of Piraeus and are popular daily cruises from Athens. These islands include Salamis, Aegina, Poros, Agistri, Poros, Hydra, and Spetses.

The Peloponnese region includes magical destinations such as Nafplio, Pylos, Kalamata, and Kythnos. These may be overlooked sailing destinations but are growing with more and more tourists annually. Crete is the largest island in Greece and is also a beautiful destination to explore by boat. Rethymno, Heraklion, and Souda, all have unique ports and offer day trips.

Greece has a 13,676 kilometers long coastline. Compared to its size, it is ranked 11th worldwide, which is very impressive. There are an estimated 2,500 islands, of which only 227 are inhabitable. Finally, by renting a sailboat in Greece you will have the comfort, luxury, and privacy you waited for all year long.

Below you will find some useful information for your sailboat rentals in Greece.

Saronic islands

Poros Harbour: care must be taken when entering the channel, but generally if you stick closer to the side of Poros instead of the Peloponnese side you will get good shelter from the weather.

Hydra Harbour: this is a favorite docking spot for many Greeks, so you might want to tie your boat as early as possible. Cross anchors are common here, but provisioning and water are available on the quay.

Mandraki Marina: the bay is located ¾ of a mile East of Hydra. A nice bay for swimming with taverns ashore and fairly sheltered.

Port of Aegina: Several yachts berth at the main harbor, but a lot of sailors simply dock in the port of Hydra instead.

There are many other anchorage spots available in Spetses. It forms a triangle of islands with Porto Heli, Nafplion, Gythio, and other sailing spots surrounding the large bay.

Ionian islands

Marina Gouvia:  a vast number of docking facilities accommodating over 1,000 boats. The perfect starting point for anyone wishing to begin their Ionian sailing route to the nearby islands.

Marina Lefkas: can accommodate yachts of up to 45 m in size and can host up to 650 berths. The marina is also great for anyone wishing to start their Ionian sailing route.

Dodecanese islands

Rhodes Marina has a berthing capacity of 382 yachts and offers perfect provisioning for all types of vessels. Super friendly staff and a safe environment for mooring.

Lakki Marina, Leros: The Marina can occupy up to 45 berths for yachts that go up to 36 meters in length. There is the perfect shelter for all weather conditions and permanent mooring lines distributing electricity and water.

Marina Kos: The marina offers 250 berths with a range of services for yachts ranging from 7 to 80 meters. One of the best marinas in the Aegean to depart during sailing holidays, because of its great position. This marina is on a continuous upgrade.

Sporades islands

Central Marina of Skopelos:  Can accommodate 4-cabined yachts and has all the facilities for sailors to stock up on water and electricity. There is a great selection of tavernas and other restaurants with Greek cuisine.

Loutraki Marina, Skopelos: the second-largest marina of the island, with multiple ferries and boats coming from the mainland of Greece or Skiathos. The port extends from the main town of Skopelos.

Peloponnese

Kalamata Marina: A modern marina with a berthing capacity of 250 vessels at a maximum depth of 3 m. Berths are equipped with electricity and water supplies and there is a full range of technical services including maintenance and repair works. There is 24-hour security and car parking within the marina zone. There are also restaurants. Shops and bars nearby.

Pylos port: a small port that can berth fishing boats and yachts. The port is well-protected from the winds since it is sheltered from Sfakteria island right opposite, acting as a natural breakwater. The marina within the harbor zone is planned to berth over 130 yachts, since Navarino Bay and the Messinian islands are becoming popular cruising destinations.

Crete

Marina Heraklion: The Venetian port of Heraklion is only 3 km away from the airport and has been a hotspot for maritime trade for centuries. The marina allows mooring of fishing boats in the inner quay and the marina berths different types of yachts.

Marina Agios Nikolaos: Has all the necessary facilities and provisions for an overnight stay for visitors and ensures security for all sailors who dock their vessel. The marina can berth up to 255 vessels.

Marina Rethymnon: Situated 60 km from the airport of Chania and 80 km from the airport of Heraklion. The marina occupies a berthing capacity of 174 yachts up to 60 m.
